Folks,
With the new 3GPP component, we can export 3GPP files from QuickTime. I
also note that, when it is installed, the AMR codec becomes available to
QuickTime file exports as well. This is potentially very cool, since AMR is
a better codec than PureVoice, and offers scalability.
So, a few questions on this note:
Does a user have to manually install the 3GPP software to get AMR
decoding, or with AMR download via component download? Or is AMR decode
built into 6.3? If so, any hope of a version for MacOS 9?
If we use AMR, will QuickTime/Darwin Streaming Server be able to take
advantage of its scalability when streaming a hinted .mov file using that
codec?
