stream.  The audio is MPEG-4 (no surprise there) but the video is
3ivx D4 4.0.4.
Interesting.

There were some really nice surprises in this presentation. I especially liked the "QuickTime Streaming Server Publisher" program that is to come bundled with Mac OS X Server Panther, which gives you a really nice app to manage your streaming assets on the server. Just drop compressed movies into it and QTSS Publisher will let you do your organizing and searching, plus do all the hinting (!) and ftp automatically, displays the movie urls in a handy window (with preview of the stream) and even generates all the HTML for you for embedding streams on your web pages, ready for copy/paste in, say, DreamWeaver.
