Well, we don't have ANY implementations of the Studio Profiles outside
of reference software to date, so it's hard to predict how it could perform
in optimized commercial implementations.
I'd guess that in intraframe only mode, it'd be faster than JPEG2000,
but slower than MJPEG, and will compress better than MJPEG, but not as well
as JPEG2000. Of course, unlike either of those, MPEG-4 supports interframe
encoding, so it could be a very useful codec for things like archiving and
intermediates, along the line of 15 Mbps IBBP today.
