It doesn't have anything to do with the QT connection speed, QuickTime looks at the actual movie download rate.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you can do if QuickTime is underestimating the amount of time the rest of the movie will take to download. If you have a reproducible case, please file a bug report at <http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter>. Including a url to a movie that demonstrates the problem will help us figure out what the problem is.
