Being sceptical about drm, I think this is just some sort of smart.
I wish QT would allow mp3s in mp4s too, this is possible with Ciscos
mp4player, really usefull for conversion of divx.avis with mp3 audio.
It is just one easy command.
QT has one big minus, it needs a lot of computer power, much more than
all mp3players.
So first of all, it is good news for some really crazy content creators,
who still believe in DRM, instead of believing in fresh content, as the
Toffler allready said in the 90s, and other services, real world real CD
covers etc. I dont think that DRM makes selling easier, it is just the
control side of selling.
And it could backfire, since not all people are willing to buy a new
computer every two years. It is just a small mass of people, if AOL wants
to stay with them, ok...but this is not the global internet. (AOL is not
the internet anyway.)
Well, I believe in simple solutions, as far as the audience is concerned,
and I want them to create too.
