Which brings me back to the question of what you want to achieve?

Simply put. I am going to use my iMac ( I have abandoned the idea of using an older machine) to present different animated movies children have done.
I will use a projector pluged to my computer.

You also answered my question on the editing. After saving many small movies (normally, without compression) I will then group all the different scenes in one movie and finely export it (with compression).

Eventually I will have to find a way to save these so they can play on older computers but this is another problem I will try to solve later.

Thanks.
