I think Squeeze will give you the best bang for the buck.... unless you
need:

Dynamic Preview
Audio Noise Reduction
Audio Equalization
Metadata Added to Movies at the time of compression
Hue/Saturation
To compress from in/out points.
Alternate Movies at the time of compression
Etc.
