In iTunes, select iTunes menus and select Preferences item. In the Preferences dialog, click on Importing and change the "Import Using" to "AIFF".
Then Drag the .mp1/.mp2/.mp3 file into the Library window and wait for it to convert to AIFF.
After that drag the resulting AIFF file out to another folder and it's converted.
