I take it there's no way of overriding this behaviour then, is
there? We
currently have an application established that works fine and all,
and all we
did was swap out the ASX/WMV code and replaced it with SMIL/QT. We
are indeed
using <a href> style links to force open a new QT window rather
than using
object/embed tags, but I guess if the behaviour cannot be
overridden then I
might as well just go with an embedded player window.
Is this a Mac-specific thing I'm just not used to seeing or
something? I
notice when I try something similar with Safari and a PDF file,
Preview
displays the file without downloading it. Is QT special in this
regard? And
if so, I don't suppose you know the rationale behind downloading
what is
essentially a pointer to other resources in addition to playing it?
I would
have thought it would have been one or the other, I can either
download the
file OR I can play it, not both.
Anyways, all that aside, thanks for the reply. If this isn't
something I can
change, I'll just go with an embedded window. I guess it's just
kind of a
"gotcha" I wasn't expecting.
Try linking to a qtl file which then points to the smil file.
