Subject: new compression formula needed
I'm currently distributing video via Quicktime straight from a CD-ROM
through Macromedia Director MX on PCs only. The codec is Sorenson
Video 3,
15 frames per second, 640x480, Keyframe every 150 frames with a data
rate
limited to 500 kbps. These files are still stalling on some pretty
fast
machines and I am experiencing instances where they even look to lose
sync.
Craig, just some ideas,
In addition to trying a different codec, did you try playing the video
"Direct to Stage"?
I've had good results with the 3ivx MPEG4 simple profile codec: http://video.conncoll.edu/test/codecs/
You may have to make your movie window smaller, i.e.: 512x384, etc.
with Sorenson, it is very CPU intensive.
Also, I recall video plays better if it is located in "snaps" of 4
(or8?) pixels from the top left of the Director stage.
