Thanks to Bob, Brad, Harry and James for the good ideas.
Will try them all, and see what's the best "fit".
We can easily create a preset or AppleScript for QT Broadcaster to make
this solution easier to implement.
I did try Audio Hijack Pro, but the interface was a little overwhelming
for a simple audio recording.
We're using a wireless UHF Samson AM1 AirlLine micro receiver, the line
out matches the PowerBook's line in nicely. For transmitter, the small
AL1 has both a built-in mic and a separate optional lavalier, all for
$270! Sounds nice too. This will allow the faculty mobility.
I'm also going to test an iPod with a Griffin Lapel Mic.
After recording, the faculty can sync the iPod to their iTunes, and
recompress the wav file (128 kbps, 8 KHz, 16 bit, mono). We'll see what
they like best.
The one-hour lectures, three a week, will be on-demand streamed from
QTSS, the faculty member in this case does not want them downloaded or
podcast.
Regarding exporting to mono in QT Player Pro, I though of this, but
wouldn't it recompess the audio?
Probably not a problem for voice quality though.
