Well, I must be blind in Cleaner also, can't find a way to do
it....maybe it's time to put me out to pasture.
Now, I'm talking about splitting an AAC compressed stereo file into two
independent mono files, or eliminating/extracting one, WITHOUT any
recompression. Lots of programs can make stereo>mono WITH
recompression.
Honestly, I don't need to do it any more, I'm just going to record in
mono!
However, it's now turned into a challenge...
WireTap Pro, QT Broadcaster, and WhackedTV all do a good job of
recording compressed-on-the-fly low-bit-rate mono AAC.
QT Broadcaster automatically adds a hint track, if you are going to
stream, and it's easy to set a preset so all you have to do is hit the
"Broadcast" button (you're not really broadcasting, just recording).
But WireTap Pro has that nice little vu meter...
