i had a conversation with a guy on a cuseeme reflector and vchat the
other night ,
he was pissed like me , and i asked him why vchat allways freezes
from time to time
and he said some thing like this.

huffman tables were sent other than thats what apple is doing with
the api. it could be explained away by 'compatibility' reasons. if
you have the huffman the image will look good."

how to write his own jpeg encoder"
"huffmans are a table of the same data sent over and over again in
vchat packets. most reasonable cu clients will assume the default
huffman table instead of sending it always. white pine figure out a
long time ago, all jpegs have the same huffman, even all mjpegs. even
if you compress it with new huffman, it doesnt change most of the
vectors"
"you just gotta tell the apple API to stop sending the huffman, do it
with a flag yanno, no total rewrite necessary. if the flag aint there
it doesnt do anything."

any pointers would begreatly apreciated ,
or isit feasonable that this might be changed from apple ?:-)
