ffmpeg or whatever, conversion is just work with numbers, all programs are
the same, MPEG 1 is much more usable in a medical environent, there are
machines of all sort, than avi. H.264 may be an equal vendor and
platform independent basic standard in 10 years, but it is not yet
officialy available etcppppp.
MPEG 1 Video is the best you can do today!
