You can get the screen size via JavaScript.  With that data, you should be able to write the appropriate <img> tag as suggested previously.

You can also use any of the various ways to make QuickTime display full screen where the movie is composed of a single image.  This is why Steve Gulie's "QuickTime for the Web" is such an indispensible resource.
