Brian,
With those numbers, my first guess is that you've found a 4 GB file size
limitation (halfway through a 8 GB movie).
Or maybe QuickTime dislikes the Dead as much as I do. Too much time
listening to bad concert tapes in the passenger seat of my sister's GLC :).
