I believe it does, but seeing that the .AVI standard is extremely
old and the new users of it don't even adhere to THAT, they should
either be using .mp4 container or... well, they should be using an
.mp4 container. :)

Yes, the MPEG-4 standard, which does not include any use of AVI -
Video for Windows has been unsupported by Microsoft since 1996.
H.264 in AVI is not standard.
Kind of like DivX saying they were "MPEG-4" when in fact they used a
proprietary combination of MPEG-4 video codec, MP3 audio in an AVI
wrapper. MPEG-4 is, by definition, .mp4.
