So... I'm working on some video targetting the iPod and I've found:
- With reasonably well pre-processed source clips, the default Apple export settings deliver a very nice result (playback on NTSC monitor is next in the testing plan).
- The iPod will display 320*180 16*9 material at (as expected) nominally better quality than letterboxed 4*3 video of the same source.
Is there any reason anyone can tip me off to that delivering 320*180 16*9 material with the video capable iPod (and as yet unannounced, contemplated or admitted to future) devices as a target is a worse idea than letterboxing and delivering 320*240? Possible reasons could be:
- Problems with NTSC playback?
- Reduced device capatability/performance?
Assuming I'd rather use H.264 than MPEG Visual for unspoken reasons, is there any reason anyone can think of other than the loss of QT6 compatibility that this might be a bad idea?
Suggestions welcome,
- Jon
