So... I'm working on some video targetting the iPod and I've found:
- With reasonably well pre-processed source clips, the default Apple
export settings deliver a very nice result (playback on NTSC monitor
is next in the testing plan).
- The iPod will display 320*180 16*9 material at (as expected)
nominally better quality than letterboxed 4*3 video of the same
source.
You might find that 320x176 works even better as 176 is a multiple of
16 and so the codec can use whole tiles instead of padding with black
and having the bottom edge to encode too.
