Re: best converter?

From: Colin Holgate <email@hidden>
Subject: best converter?

What is the best video deck to Firewire converter? In particular ones
that have component-in. Special prizes go to ones that have better
color space, and the winner would be one that has SDI-in!
Matching outputs (Firewire to component or SDI) would be a bonus.

Colin, have you looked at the Laird Telemedia Inertia LTM-6000? About $2,700.

Conventional DV media converters are limited to bi-directional analog to DV conversion. Inertia does that at the highest RS170A broadcast spec but ALSO bidirectionally converts Component, YC, composite and SDI between formats independent from DV making it the ultimate everything to everything box...Inertia also contains features never before seen on a transcoder such as dual analog outputs for easy monitoring, Cat 5 AV output as well as a Firewire line driver that allows up to seventy feet between your DV devices and you.

Bi-directional Conversion of DV to/from SDI

Bi-directional Analog to Analog Transcoding
Bi-directional Digital/Analog Audio Conversion
Video I/O: Composite, S-Video, Component (YUV)
Digital Video I/O: IEEE-1394 DV, SDI
etc...
