When I installed the latest version of QuickTime, I didn't make it the default media player. Now, I can't seem to be able to figure out (short of unstalling and reinstalling) how to do it. Can anyone help?

If you mean on a Mac, and you mean it to play all .MOV files, get info on any one file and in there you can select which application will open the file. You can click a Change All button to set it to always open .MOVs.
