Is QuickTime really that prevalent on PCs these days -- I know iTunes and

I see QT as the least supported among all audi/video standards (after
Flash, Windows Media, RealOne) on the PC market.

mp3 is probably the most popular, most ubiquitous, most supported audio file format on the web.
I believe you can use plain HTML to play a file as an invisible background file, I did it years ago, but forgot the code.

I find it hard to believe that Real today has more players out there than iTunes/QT.
Last survey I saw, which is over a year old
http://www.internetnews.com/infra/article.php/3366831
showed QT more popular than Real. And that was before iPod/iTunes really took off.
Remember, every time someone installs iTunes, QuickTime is installed also.
Fabio, do you have any facts to back up your claim?
