If you cede control of the player and user experience, that might be true.
Otherwise, you're still player-dependent.

The numbers are going to be somewhat different, but the relative positions
for Flash, Windows Media and QuickTime are not.  (QuickTime and Real are
within the margin or error, but I don't know of anyone who still considers
Real a competitive distribution format.)
