Re: Muxed saving via QT/Applescript

PS - Scott, which program are you using described below?

I use LabVIEW to write programs.  It's my hypercard..  It makes something called Virtual Instruments.  Someone in Sweeden wrote some code for it to play QuickTime movies, and take video in from cameras.

The trick seems to be to do both audio and video.  The muxed method was recommended, i.e. reading a muxed file can successfully play a video with sound, but otherwise it's messy.

Yep, Apple's MPEG-2 Component does not understand muxed files. If you attempt anything via quicktime in any program, it will only yield the video track.

One solution is to use MPEG Streamclip to demux the file first, but sadly it's not scriptable.  Also, the upcoming version of VLC 0.8.4 has a fancy new transcoding wizard which may help in this space.  VLC understands muxed transport streams and can export to H.264 in a mov container.  http://nightlies.videolan.org

I'm using a program that can only read multiplexed QT Movies.  I can capture the movie and sound using the program, but I'm having trouble getting AppleScript to save the movie as a multiplexed movie.  I'm of the mind that only MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 are muxed, but there may be other flavors.  Is it accurate that the MPEG 2 encoder is included as part of the DVD Studio Pro package?

Suggestions appreciated.
