3gp no audio Motorola v3

hi folks !

I hope some of you may find this interesting enough to hazard an answer . . .

I am encoding short video for deployment on GSM phones, ie. the 3gp standards.

The first phone I tested with this content (a Motorola Razr v3) fails to play the audio if it's in AAC form, though sound plays fine under QuickTime on Macs.

Sound plays on the Motorola only if encoded with AMR, but I would rather use the more musical AAC codec.

**Question, then: is it likely I'm doing something wrong, or that Motorola's phone isn't fully 3gp compliant ?**

I'm guessing from what I've read that the H.264 video codec is beyond the original 3gp specification, even though QT's export options for 3gp files include H.264 as a codec - phone doesn't recognise such files.

Pity, because in my limited tests, the video looked way better with H. 264 than MPEG 4 video encoding.

many thanks,

Hal
