I think I'd have to agree!
I got the same error message but an alternative route says the full product is $549 whilst the upgrade price from Cleaner 6 is $179.

Since I've got Flash 8's encoder already and I don't need DiVX, I don't think I'll be investing just yet.
(and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I did a test encode of a QuickTime H.264 video using Cleaner when QT7 was first released)
