I had created Motorola-legal video with MPEG Streamclip, but the
phone wouldn't play the file simply by my tacking on a .3gp file
extension.
By opening the .m4v file (created in MPEG Streamclip) in QT Pro,
choosing 3gp output from the pop-up menu and setting both the video
and audio codecs to 'pass through,' the phone recognised and played
the same content just fine.
Seems to me that the 'wrapper' of the file thereby became .3gp -
legitimized, as simply renaming the file didn't.
Perhaps it works the same way with video for the iPod... there seems
no way to choose 'pass through' as codecs ( in fact no options at
all as I'm sure y'all have disgust (sic) ), but perhaps QTP is smart
enough not to re-encode the movie if the encoding is already to iPod
spec ?
... might be worth trying . . .
Hal

Does anybody have any way to make video for iPod other that using
default "Movie to iPod"?
