I'm trying to read the archival "Virtual Museum", but the video codec is
CDVC. Is there anything that can read this format and convert it to
something more modern?
VLC might play it back or ffmpeg maybe even mplayer.... google found a few
hits.
Apparently it's a Canopus Digital Video codec.... you have to register (grr)
with Canopus and then you can d/l their playback only codec 'dvcodec.exe'
"The Canopus DV codec will allow machines to play AVI files that use the
Canopus DV codec. Playback performance depends on CPU speed." (c)2002 (!)
This software converts between all Microsoft DV file formats and all Canopus
DV file formats. The conversion is lossless: there is no
decompression/recompression involved. You can also copy Canopus reference
files to another location.
This software also supports batch processing, so you can convert multiple
files at one time.
How to install:
Run the Canopus_DV_File_Converter.exe file and follow the setup instructions.
How to use:
Drag one or multiple AVI files to the Canopus DV File Converter icon on your
desktop. The dialog will open and you can select target format and directory.
You can also click on the Canopus DV File Converter icon, and Drag and Drop a
list of DV files on the Application, or click "Browse" and select files from
the opening dialog box.
After you select your source AVI, click "Process". The files will then be
created"
yes, apparently windoze.
