I can't say specifically what the problem is but here's a couple of
things I try when stuff doesn't go right (sorry if you've already tried
all this):
1) Try running the SMIL file in a standalone QT player. If it plays
fine, it might be a browser problem. Some browsers are just memory hogs
by themselves anyway and this SMIL app just pushes it over the limit.
2) Try taking out all of the images, then add them back one by one to to
see what happens.
3) Try spacing out the sequence (begin = 0.5s or 1.0s). Again, just to
see what happens.
Updates are a pain but I haven't had any serious trouble with SMIL stuff
after upgrading to 10.3.9
