Why would some machines play an MP4 file and some not?

I’ve got a Delphi program that uses the ActiveX plug-in (NOT the new QTControl, but the older-style ActiveX plugin) to play Quicktime files. Someone gave me a file that didn’t play in the program on their machine. And, of course, it plays perfectly on my machine. Both machines are Dells, both have Win XP SP2, both have Quicktime 7.1.5 (we refreshed it on both machines today).

On my machine, the file shows up fine. On the problem machine, the audio plays, but the video doesn’t appear. The file is AAC audio with H.264 video. The Quicktime Player on both machines plays the file fine.

The biggest difference is the video system. My system has on-board Intel graphics. The other machine has an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro board. We tried upgrading the drivers, just in case, but got the same result.

Any ideas on what I could look for as to why the file wouldn’t play? Any place I can look for error messages, or turn on some debugging to see what’s wrong on the other machine?

Thanks.
