I don't have enough experience to compare the two, when it comes to decoding, which I why I asked.


Interesting however how the "old" WMP Player is still number 2 on Apple's list of Video Downloads, and Flip4Mac is nowhere to be seen on this page, nor on "Staff Picks"

I've been using the Flip4Mac codec since it came out over a year ago and it
works great, and for the most part seamlessly (see below), unless you are
trying to play drm-restricted content. Later on I bought the version that
allows saving wmv to mov for my workplace. I don't have Final Cut, but have
had no problems with Firewire capture with the codec present. Microsoft has
stated that wmv played in this way will actually have better performance
than via the old WMP Player, which hadn't been updated since late 2003.
