We have had good experiences streaming our live station with QTSS and
Broadcaster, for many years.
We started out with everything on one G4: apache, DSS, and QT
Broadcaster, and it worked fine.
Now we moved up a bit, but are still using Broadcaster on a Mac Mini
going to apache and QTSS on an XServe. But you don't need that much
"heavy metal", just some bandwidth!

Subject: need help with Quicktime Broadcaster
I'm a high school teacher working in a public school in Toronto,
Canada. As
an extracurricular activity, along with a group of students we have
set up a
small recording studio, where we produce some radio shows, school
announcements, and a bit of music from our local young talents.
Part of the
material is podcasted and available at the following website:
Now we are planning our next step:going live on Internet. I've
learned that
Quicktime Broadcaster is a good software for this, but I have no
experience
yet, and nobody around me seem to have any clue about it. We are
currently
working with a G5 that has attached a TASCAM 122 USB (and mics, of
course)
for all our audio recordings, it's working pretty well.
Where can I find the info about how to set up our live radio
broadcasting
experience?
