Doesn't sound like anything we haven't been doing for years with
Director and QT.

Partly the environment to make the interactivity is more programmatic than you'd usually do in QT. I've not seen any "QTVR" style demos yet, and there are definitely limitations in the 3Dness of it used in a browser compared to the desktop "WPF" big brother.

The idea of a 'video brush' is nice - where was the first use of that you can think of ? I remember stuff like the Jacko videos in the 70s with the coloured outlines, stuff like that which required $$$ TV production kit to do back then.

Not even beta yet. Windoze-only development.

It's been in CTP (Beta to you and me) since before December. And the development environment, yeah that's doze-only, however the playback should be fine for Mac too. I'm embarrased that I've only plugged my Mac in last weekend to do stuff and downloaded it on there, so very little chance to play on Safari. The Firefox / IE playback seems OK though on a PC.

And the race is on to see how long to crack any DRM they are trying to
implement in their "superior" VC-1!

Well, there's no DRM support as-of-now in WPF/E, and I hope that continues for some time yet, I'm not a great fan ;-) If it did come, to claim cross browser support, MS would have to implement it on Mac too which is the step Flip4Mac haven't been able to take so far.... I expect some of the content production crew on the list might have something to say about IP protection issues.

Cheers - Neil
