Yes, HDV2 is pseudo-anamorphic: simple interpolatiion, not optical squeeze. Exactly 1440x1080 and this is the Canon's pixel count. Sony is 960x1080 (much less). Then there's the HDV1 720p used by Victor Company that's true 1:1.

And, as I pointed out before, it's not just HDV. XDCAM HD, HDCAM and DVCPRO HD are all using an optical squeeze and doing 1080 at 1440 x 1080 (or less). Even at 720 DVCPRO HD is doing an anamorphic squeeze to 960 x 720 while HDV1 is truly 1280 x 720.


It's not just HDV that is compromised but all affordable HD formats have the same compromise.
