Howdy -
I have purchased both a Nikon 990 & 950 from internet retailers,
and several others for friends visiting from Italy, no probs at all -
The main thing you have to worry about is getting a "grey market" camera,
this usually means it does not include a USA warranty, meaning if something
goes wrong, getting it repaired under warranty may be difficult to
impossible -
Of course, if you are not in the US to begin with, it may be a moot issue
Go to www.shopper.com and do a search for nikon 995, you will see a list of
recommended retailers and prices - seemed to be around US$700 was the good
price -
Some of the places you listed now have the 995 for as little as US$565 - I
have to admit, seems like a great deal, but I'd be a little suspicious....
Ask specific questions, get peoples names, make sure you'll have no problems
with the return policy... All should be ok since you'll pay with credit card
There is also widespread speculation that the 995 will be replaced by a
4 or 5 megapixel model before X-mas - so big price cuts would be in line
with this theory...
