We as developers still need to partition Apple, even if it is only to get them to continue the development of QTVR playback within Quicktime. It seems that the VR component was updated with QT6.1.1 which shows that at least for now we are safe.

This doesn't really follow at all. One complaint software developers have had over the years is that Apple develops software which competes with theirs and makes it less viable to develop prorams supporting whatever technology Apple has underlying these products (in this case, QTVR). Indeed, this is undoubtedly a concern among many developing video software, given Final Cut Pro (you can certainly tell Adobe isn't wild about this), Shake, Logic, and DVD Studio Pro.

So software developers have been asking Apple for years to lay off, and they are here. This is a pretty small market, and there are at lest two developers producing tools we can use.

So what we need to do as QTVR developers is produce more of it! This is one of my goals this year is to get a whole lot more done. The more it is used in projects, especially commercial projects, the stronger the case can be made for supportting it. After all these years, I still don't this the vast potential of QTVR has been tapped. So let's get to it! That is ulitmately what will make the big difference.
