Re: quicktime-vr digest, Vol 3 #722 - 17 msgs

I would agree. In fact all of the Flash objects I've seen seem to be lacking the intuitive spin control that makes QTVR so nice to use. The rollover goodies, etc., are nice, but there isn't anything here that couldn't be done with QTVR and wired sprites in Live Stage Pro. Despite recent improvements, Live Stage is still a bitch to use and I'd guess making something like this in Flash isn't easy either. A "new QTVRAS" or equivalent should include tools for adding this kind of functionality.

Great point that should sound some alarms at Apple as Object VR has
not been updated dramatically since it was introduced. IMO for
today's projects we need more flexibility than just a series of
bitmaps arranged in columns and rows.

Check out the Nikon D100 object to see what I mean.

The pictures and the vector added information looks great. IMHO the interface feels like the camera spins out of control when you want it to stay still, and stays still when you want to drag it. I'm sure that this is by design and not a limitation of Flash, though. If it behaved more like QTVR in terms of the UI I think the project would gain a lot (just my personal opinion). -- _ . _
