Usually yes but not always.
Before writing this to the list I have checked this trik with Opera 6.05 on my computer.
Opera doesn't pass "quicktime" handler to the OS. It says "The address type is unknown or unsupported".

usually a web browser passes on the URL to the OS for it to resolve (so that one can install more protocol handlers etc. [like the "quicktime" one] and have all apps benefit from that action). So Opera might also have a problem with this, since its seems to be a "bug" in the handler of the "quicktime" protocolo (URLs starting with quicktime:)
