Thanks Karl, thanks Matthew
This comparison test is really important for me!
I need urgently to upgrade my camera (A Coolpix 995 very tired...) and I
was thinking about:
1) a "light-upgrade": Nikon Coolpix 5000 + Coolfix adaptor + Kaidan
Kiwi5000 cradle kit (+19mm wideangle for multirow stitching)
2) a "heavy-update": Digital Reflex (Canon D10) + Fisheye 8mm (Sigma)
Actually I have 2 panoramic heads: a Kaidan Kiwi990+Kiwi995 upgrade kit
and a Kaidan spherichal (for small digital cameras). The choiche is not
easy for me. I should need some tips from you. What's the better
choiche?
I'd love SLRs (now less expensive), but I don't like you cannot cover a
full 1800 with just a shot (size scale factor about 1.4-1.5, so extra
stitching required). I think we panographers should need either a full
24*36mm CCD camera (very expensive?) or some new fisheye lens made only
for digital cameras.
I see every day in the mailing list fantastic examples (Peter Murphy,
Hans Nyberg etc...) made with 8mm fisheye (Sigma 8mm, the only
reasonable price/quality lens?) and Digital SLR and this burn my desire
upgrading to a professional solution...
Canon D10 is about 1500$, now reasonable price (when I bought my 995 it
was over 1100$!), the important is that I can use it with my Kaidan
spherical Bracket.
So, what do you suggest me?
[For information: last year I shot about 1000 panoramas (most with 2
fisheye circle images), a small part for business, the bigger free of
charge: small business, big number of shots]
A- sell 995 with lens and Kiwi995 and upgrade to reflex
B- just upgrade to 5000
C- Buy D10+Sigma and use 995 when lower quality required
D- Buy 5000 and wait for a full frame CCD camera (or customized digital
SLR fisheye lens)
E- other...
Cordially, thanks in advance
Giorgio Marchetto
