Ok - I am sending the file as an attachment to an email using Entourage. It
was created in QTRVAS and is not zipped or anything else. It was suffixed
.pano and I have changed that to .mov but the problem still occurs. The
point is - I have previously sent it as a .pano file and there was no
problem in opening it or with duplicate files but after the upgrade to QT6.1
there is. I have also just been told that another recipient of a file sent
in the same way is getting the error report - file unsafe to open -. He is
also using a PC. I accept that this may be related to not using the suffix
.mov but do not know which version of Windows that he is using or if it is
different from my partners set up.
Try this:
1.- Open the movie in QT Player Pro.
2.- Choose File->Save As... and select "Self Contained".
3.- Maker sure the file has a .mov extension
At this point the file should work as expected, but just be on the
really safe side:
4.- Use DropZip (should be in the Stuffit folder in your Applications
foler, or get it from Alladin http://www.stuffit.com/stuffit/lite/)
to compress the file in a ZIP document.
5.- Send your friend the ZIP file.
If you still have problems with it, send me the .ZIP or .pano file to
take a look, or post it on a web server for download.
Re: the message that said it was "unsafe", I think that has to do
with the Internet Settings that your recipient has on his PC. I'm
not sure if the problem would be because of the extension on the
filename or some other setting.
