correcting the barrel distortion before and passing then trough Stitcher

I'm sorry (very sorry as I have to finish to pay this lens) , but I think
that the 12/24 nikor is not a good lens to do panoramas, but I hope that
some skilled panographer can find a solution...

I find it hard to believe that this lens can not achieve excellent results.
If full and partial fisheye lenses can be adapted it seems that
the modest distortion in this lens should not present an insurmountable obstacle to success.
Hell, I've stitched VRs from a Holga/Diana!
They were only disappointing because they looked too good after stitching (lost most of the distorted charm).
I have the 12-24 myself and have done cylindrical VRs without difficulty.
I'm getting a cubic bracket soon and I will be trying this lens with it.

The Panotools correction you posted looks very good.
You say NO improvement in stitching was achieved by correcting the images first???
How much overlap do the images have?
Maybe you need to be more conservative and shoot 3 rows of 10 or 12 images instead of 2 rows of 8.
I'm sure there is a good compromise in there someplace.

Please keep me posted.
Thanks,
Curt
