Stitcher 4 licensing policy

I just wanted to give my public thanks to the folks at RealViz for being so incredibly responsive to their legitimate users. As many of you know, when Stitcher 4 was released it brought along with it a "product activation" scheme which tied your license to a specific hardware ID generated for your workstation. While most of us probably understand the desire to reduce piracy, especially for niche applications, this also prevented many photographers from working in ways they are used to (and which many software companies have allowed, explicitly or tacitly) - installing the same license on two machines, typically a desktop and laptop. Assuming both machines are used by the same person, and not simultaneously for the same application, many have long allowed this flexibility. The Stitcher 4 activation scheme made this effectively impossible, meaning that I would need at least two licenses for Stitcher 4 - one on the laptop, which I would only use in the field, and the other on the desktop for actual final production work.

After a lot of legit users expressed their concern, RealViz was generous and sensitive enough to offer a secondary license for a secondary piece of hardware (with some provisions - must only be used by the same person, not simultaneously, etc). This was a very nice show of confidence and appreciation by RealViz and I just wanted to thank them publicly. I think the good will imparted by this will generate a lot more than whatever few extra licenses might have been purchased to work around this (most of us couldn't easily afford a second license, let alone justify it).
