However it changed the options in Explorer to use Sun instead which is
good.
However as you say the download is 14.5 mb
And if you use the first option you do not get any information at all
how
big the installation is. And what about the Netscape Mozilla option.
Do you
actually need a different version for it?
What if you use both Explorer and Netscape. Or OPERA or Firefox
When you install Java the installer checks your systems and tries to
find out which browsers you have installed. If you have only MSIE
(default Windows) then you only get the Java plug-in for MSIE.
If you install another browser afterwards, you have to run the Java
installer again. So it's a good idea to download the full installer in
the first step. :-)
Opera uses the plug-ins from Mozilla/Netscape. Fireforx in independent
of Mozilla.
So you could have the following scenario:
* default Windows
* install Java, it finds only MSIE and installs only the plug-in for
MSIE
* install Mozilla, it might find out that you already hava Java by Sun
but the plug-in is missing
* run Java installer again for Mozilla plug-in
* install Opera, it already sees Mozilla/Netscape and takes the
plug-ins from there
* if you install a new plug-in (or Java version) you have to tell Opera
to look again in Netscape's plug-in directory
I don't know what happens if you do this (Hans, you might try it with
Virtual PC):
* default Windows
* install Opera without Java
* install Java, it might detect Opera as a Netscape-clone and install
the Java plug-in
