RE: Click and Drag

Hi Neil

The best method to achieve this control method (and for the final
delivery of your project) is likely to be Macromedia Director or a
similar multimedia authoring platform.

My team has successfully used trackballs in this way with Director/QTVR
many times.

Unfortunately, I cannot share the code with you for various reasons,
mostly because our programmers refuse to share their trade secrets!

But I can assure you that it is more than possible.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Subject: Click and Drag

A little help needed here...

I'm trying to build a kiosk for the public to view QTVR panoramas during
a restoration project, and I have run into a problem with the control
interface.

The proposal is to have 3 anti-vandal buttons and an anti-vandal
trackball mounted on the front of the kiosk. Two buttons will be used to
scroll up and down a list of panoramas and the third button will select
it. I would like to have the panorama open with the trackball 'live' (no
mouse-click required) so that there will be minimal user instruction
required, but I can't work out how to achive this... I have the buttons
interface solved (emulating keystrokes) but the trackball is a
surprising challenge.

I have looked through various documentation from VRHotwires to QuickTime
API Reference, but nothing has caught my attention - so far.

To recap - how can I get a cubic QTVR to pan and tilt with only a 'drag'
and no 'click'??

Has anyone done this before? or have an idea how to do this?

All thoughts are welcome...

N
