Ooops, my bad. Didn't read the problem description thoroughly enough. Did you consider using an alternate mouse driver (USB Overdrive?) for the trackball, and to set it up so that the movement equals repeated keystrokes? That way, it should be possible to "catch" that in iShell and transfer it into a "nudge" command (or better, "move to target" with the target angle changed by the keystrokes - that's smoother)?
