Re: lighting

For a quick lighting solution in poorly illuminated scenes, I carry small
camcorder style video lights in my bag...better than a flashlight.

For this restaurant pano of a nyc360 group meeting I used a menu card to
bounce the light back over the camera. Creates a nice soft fill. Look at
everyone's faces, no deep eye socket shadows and everyone has nice catch
lights in their eyes. Look at Mike Quan's spoon and glasses.

For bigger situations, you can scale this up to bounce lighting off a large
white panel for a 180 degree spread but I never attempt to create new
lighting that over power the existing lighting.

That's Ford Oxaal across from me and to his left is Jim Galvin (the blue
shirt guy).

That same evening, I snuck out early and shot this pano in Times Square:

I'll be at the next nyc360 meeting this Saturday. Hope to see everyone
there and be in my pano!

Saturday April 3 @ 4:30pm in Times Square, NYC
