Re: Optimizing Zenith & Nadir

It is a good way to stitch. In adition, use only these six shots to look at a preview and see if the horizon is... horizontal. Optimize it and if its okee than add nadir and zenit.
BTW maybe by now you have callibrated your lens, but still, I think (and maybe I'm wrong) when you shoot handheld, forget about your perfect a,b,c etc settings and go just about as you previously did. Let PTMac optimise all the parameters to morph your images and get a resonable stitch.

When I'm optimizing my panos with PTMac I've found that I tend to get better results if I optimize the 6 horizontal images separately from the Zenith and Nadir shots. In other words, when I optimize, first I select all 6 of my 360ยบ shots and optimize them. That usually get's me a very tight stitch. Then, I'll uncheck those 6 images and only check the zenith and nadir shots and optimize those, thus, leaving the horizontal shots optimized the way they were.

Sometimes this doesn't work well - it'll leave the zenith and nadir just too out of whack to fix later in Photoshop, but sometimes it works perfectly.

So, I'm just curious. What do you guys usually do? Do you optimize all the images at once, or do you separate the zenith/nadir shots out?

Thanks,

-Brian
