If I recall, earlier in the thread was the request to find a way to
make a QTVR 'expire' after the license period was up.
How about putting original files on one of your own web sites, then
using QT Player to open the (hard-to-guess) URL, then save the movie
"Normally (with dependencies)"
Then you can provide this dependent movie to your clients to use on
their pages.
At the end of the license period, simply move the original files on
your site, leave them there if the client has paid up, or rename the
original files and send them a new dependent movie.
If the dependent movie has the same name as the earlier one, they can
just drop it into whatever web directory the first one was in without
any re-coding of their pages.
Your invoice could read something to the effect of "Per the terms of
our agreement of October 1, 2004, the QuickTime VR movies you have
licensed from us will expire (cease to work) on April 1, 2005. Upon
receipt of payment of this invoice, we will provide you updated files
which will remain active until October 1, 2005. We look forward to
providing your site's visitors uninterrupted viewing pleasure."
just my 2 cents...
Hal
