new compact Digital Rebel Plus (was Re: camera advice please

After checking out www.dpreview.com, & user comments, that new Canon Digital Rebel Plus looks attractive, for users
who want something compact & light. It's smaller than the old Digital Rebel, & some 20D owners were considering
trading "down" to it.

Any other Digital Rebel users out there, thinking of upgrading to the Digital Rebel Plus? My 2 Digital Rebels are
practically brand new, maybe I'll trade one of them in.. (or both)

"Canon Powershot Pro 1

Most people seem to use a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera for taking pano shots, but I
couldn't justify paying $1500 for the Canon 20D and then
another $500 for the Sigma 8mm fisheye lens considering that digital camera
technology improves every year, and unlike a film SLR camera
which will last 30 years, a DSLR might last 2 before it's totally outdated. So, my
philosophy is to go with a more economical solution, and the
Powershot Pro 1 is a great choice. This is by far the best sub-SLR digital camera
out there, and at $700 or so, it's a great deal. While the camera
may not take quite as good a still shot as a Canon 20D might, it doesn't really
matter. With the amount of pixel processing that goes on to produce
a pano, nobody is going to be able to tell any difference between the two. The only
real issue with this camera and a conversion add-on lens is the
weight. The camera + lens is over 3.5lbs. "

You can get the Digital Rebel Plus for around $800 (?), I just saw the kit (w/17-55 lens) for like high 900's, I;m
sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere (like buydig.com). With that $100 rebate that ended late January, I got my
Digital Rebels for like $629 a piece..plus $200 off the other 2 lenses I got with each body.

I would seriously consider the Digital Rebel Plus, that thing looks dang compact. Anyone play with one yet, for
Panoramas?
