By "replace it with an RC2 quick release", do you mean you use a "RC2 base"
(the female" part)? I.e.,

This Bogen part 3299 seems to be missing from your hardware list, for the
Bogen spherical-head mod.
I'm about to order the parts for the system you recommended. I already have
this RC2 quick-release system, for the various Bogen stuff I already have. I
already use it for my Sony FX1 (HD 3-chip camcorder), when using it with a
Bogen fluid head.
I'm gonna forego the 3-point leveler, & go with Bogen 488 head:

I may use this with the lightweight Bogen tripod I recently got (the 714B),
or even the 300N rotator.
